Skills Used
The pandemic had a profound impact on mental health and opportunities for older adults. Because of their increased risk related to COVID, their opportunities to travel, specifically, were much diminished. In 2022, after the world re-opened, my team and I were tasked with developing a travel app specifically for older adults. By looking at research on older adults, we narrowed down the functionality of our app: a trip planner that comes with recommendations and social connections. We iterated the design through different prototype fidelities: paper, wireframe, and high-fidelity prototype. To evaluate our design, we conducted usability testing and a heuristic evaluation. The main take-away from these evaluations is that older adults do not have the same technological understanding as younger audiences, which affects the way that we design.
Test out our prototype here.
