Skills Used

In choosing an app to redesign, my colleagues and I, all students in Chicago who primarily use the CTA, looked to frustrations in our own lives: the Ventra app. The official app of the CTA, Ventra has a 1.7 out of 5 stars on the app store due to its many problems. As the nation’s 2nd largest public transit system and providing 1.6 million rides on the average weekday, it is crucial that the CTA official app is well-developed and user-friendly. We identified usability problems with a heuristic evaluation, which we fixed with our redesign. Additionally, we fleshed out an unknown mapping feature. My primary work was in interaction and animation, so I spent a lot of time working with Figma components, such as the skeuomorphic card interaction and the pull up menu animation.

Test out our prototype here.

Project Summary

In a city as big as Chicago, their primary transport app should not have this many critical issues.
